Just Dance Baby! Program by Neurodiverse Playhouse
It's all about fun!
The Just Dance Baby! program by Melissa Biedak of Neurodiverse Playhouse is a unique and engaging therapy program designed to support the holistic development of children. Our program is deeply focused on improving executive functioning, emotional regulation, fine and gross motor skills, and cognitive abilities through a fun and effective therapeutic approach known as the Primitive Reflex Integration Model and the Social Thinking Approach.
What is Primitive Reflex Integration Theory?
Primitive reflexes are automatic movements that develop in the womb and during early infancy, essential for survival and development in the initial stages of life. These reflexes typically integrate or fade as a child matures. However, in some cases, they can persist beyond infancy, potentially interfering with a child’s development in areas such as coordination, balance, and cognitive processing.
The Primitive Reflex Integration Model focuses on identifying and integrating these retained reflexes to promote smoother physical, emotional, and cognitive development. Through specific exercises and activities, we aim to help children overcome developmental challenges, allowing them to reach their full potential. By incorporating dance and movement into these therapeutic exercises, we ensure that the therapy is both engaging and effective, helping children improve their skills in a natural, enjoyable way.
Understanding the Social Thinking Approach
Social Thinking is a framework that helps individuals understand and respond to social interactions in a more effective way. It is particularly useful for children who struggle with social communication, such as those with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, or other social learning challenges. The Social Thinking approach teaches children to interpret social cues, understand the perspective of others, and respond appropriately in social situations. This not only enhances their social skills but also supports their overall emotional regulation and executive functioning.
In the Just Dance Baby! program, we incorporate the Social Thinking approach to help children develop these essential social skills in a supportive and structured environment. Whether through individual or group therapy, our goal is to help each child better navigate the social world around them, leading to improved interactions and relationships.
Our Programme Structure
We offer both individual and group therapy options, tailored to meet the unique needs of each child.
The program is run by an Exercise Physiologist, and may be assisted by an Allied Health Assistant.
For group therapy, an individual assessment is required before joining a group to ensure that the group setting is appropriate and beneficial for your child. In some cases, parent participation may be necessary to support the child's success in the group. We are also happy to provide pathways for joining group therapy using the
Social Thinking Approach.
Our therapy programme operates on a service agreement, with fees paid weekly on the day of service. We offer a 10% discount for full payment of fees in advance. We adhere to all reporting and documentation requirements set out by Medicare, NDIS, and private health insurance providers and our registration bodies.
Reports can be provided at an additional fee for NDIS.
We require two weeks' notice to opt out of the therapy programme or 48 hours' notice for the cancellation of a single appointment. In respect to our clients on waitlists, please note that more than three cancellations will result in the voiding of participation in our programme.
Our Commitment to Your Family and Regular Attendance
As a small business, our primary goal is to ensure that your child benefits fully from the therapy programmes we offer. We are deeply committed to making a positive impact on your child’s development through our specialised therapies. However, due to our smaller size and the personalised nature of our services, we rely on regular attendance to make our therapy sessions viable for everyone involved.
Regular attendance not only helps your child achieve the best possible outcomes but also allows us to keep the costs of therapy as low as possible while maximising the availability of face-to-face sessions. We ask for your understanding and cooperation in maintaining consistent participation in the programme, as this ensures that we can continue offering high-quality therapy that meets your child’s needs.
We are committed to providing a supportive, effective, and enjoyable therapeutic experience for your child.
Through movement, rhythm, and creative expression, children are learning executive functioning skills—planning, focusing, and staying organised. Dance therapy supports emotional regulation, helping children recognise and express their feelings through movement, which builds self-awareness & confidence.
Our program offers a fantastic workout, boosting physical fitness and building gross motor skills like balance, coordination, and strength.
