Occupational therapy

Why Fit In When You Were Born to Stand Out? — Dr. Seuss

At Neurodiverse Playhouse, we believe the world is brighter when children are free to be exactly who they are. Our Occupational Therapy team works gently, playfully, and respectfully to support your child’s natural rhythms—without pressure, without bribes, and without trying to change their identity.

We don’t “fix” children. We create safety, connection and joy—so their unique strengths can shine.

Transforming Lives Through Health

What Makes Our OT Approach Different

Because your child deserves more than a one-size-fits-all approach.

  • Neuroaffirming + Respectful: We don’t force eye contact, sitting still or using “expected” behaviours. We meet your child exactly where they are.
  • PDA-aware and autonomy-focused: If your child needs to say no, we listen.
  • Movement-friendly + sensory-led: Stimming is welcome. So is rolling, bouncing, spinning and playing on the floor.
  • Relational, not compliance-based: We build connection before we build capacity.
  • Family-aligned: You’re not a bystander—you’re part of your child’s support village.

What We Help With—Without Ever Forcing It

Our Occupational Therapists co-create sessions with your child, not for them.

Some of the areas we support:

  • Sensory safety — Helping your child understand and trust their sensory world
  • Interoception and body awareness — Learning to notice and respond to internal signals
  • Emotional co-regulation — Supporting expression and big feelings, not silencing them
  • Play and social joy — Honouring the way your child connects and communicates
  • Daily living skills — At a pace that works for them, not based on someone else’s chart
  • Demand avoidance support — Creating an environment where autonomy is protected and shame is replaced with trust

No sticker charts.
No rewards for masking.
No pressure to “be good.”
Just support that honours your child’s full humanity.

Our Team: Gentle, Joyful, Genuine

What to Expect From Day One

  • A warm welcome and no expectations
  • A quiet space, a gentle start, and a lot of play
  • You’re invited to be involved—if that feels right
  • We adapt to your child’s cues, not the other way around
  • NDIS-friendly and neurodivergent-safe

No rushed assessments. No clinical checklists before connection.

Let’s Redefine What Therapy Can Be

Your child doesn’t need to change who they are to feel safe, included, or valued.
They just need the right support, offered in the right way.

And that’s exactly what we do at Neurodiverse Playhouse.
